Dr Banu Sis is the recipient of the 2012 Canadian Association of Pathologists Junior Scientist Award. The Award recognizes meritorious scientific work in the field of Pathology by a member of the Canadian Association of Pathologists who is under 40 years of age. The award will be presented at the CAP-ACP Annual Scientific Meeting in Calgary in July 2012.
This year's DynaLIFEDX Graduate Research Prizes have been awarded to three of our graduate students. 1st prize was earned by Sanjay Beesoon and two 2nd prizes were shared equally by Kathleen Bone and Ashlyn Bernier. These awards recognize the excellence of research done by graduate students in our Department. A recent peer-reviewed publication by the student is the focus of the award, but the student's whole academic career is also considered. We congratulate them on their accomplishment!
Dr. Steve E. Hrudey, Professor Emeritus in the Division of Analytical and Environmental Toxicology, and a world-renowned expert on water toxicology, is one of three outstanding world leaders who received a special Honorary Degree from the University of Alberta on March 1, 2012 for his contributions to “the preservation, distribution and management of one of humanity’s most vital resources: water”.... more
Dr. Hrudey is also the 2012 winner of the American Water Works Association (AWWA) A.P. Black Research Award and only the second Canadian to win this award in its 45-year history. The A.P. Black Research Award recognizes outstanding research contributions to water science and water supply. Dr. Hrudey will be presented with his award on June 11th at ACE12 in Dallas, Texas.
